Juan José Castellón (Dr.sc. ETH Zurich) is currently Assistant Professor of Architecture & Technology at Rice University and co-Founder of the architectural practice xmade GmbH based in Basel (Switzerland). He received his architectural degree at Escola Tècnica Superior d’Arquitectura de Barcelona (ETSAB, 2003) and obtained his Master in Emergent Technologies & Design at the Architectural Association School of Architecture (AA London, 2011). From 2010 to 2012 he was Adjunct Professor of Digital Culture at the Barcelona Institute of Architecture (BIArch) and from 2011 to 2018 Lecturer at the Institute of Technology in Architecture (ETH Zurich) and Researcher at the Institute of Technology in Architecture (ITA), Chair of Structural Design (ETH Zurich). On 2017 received his Doctoral Degree at the ETH Zurich with a Thesis entitled: "Stereotomic Models in Architecture". His research is focused on the design and development of experimental prototypes and on the implementation of hierarchical porosity in Architecture.
